Onion Bhaje
Cooking time : 20 Minutes
Serves 4
Ingredients:
Bengal gram flour 2 cups
Salt use as required
Baking powder a pinch
Onions 2 nos large, curt into roundels
Asafoetida 1/2 tspn
Red chilly powder 1 tspn
Turmeric powder a pinch
Chaat masala powder 1/4 tspn
Refined oil 2 cups +1 tbspn
Rice flour 1 tspn
Method:
1. Sieve the flour and the salt in a basin. Add the baking powder, rice flour, salt ,red chilly powder, chaat masala powder, turmeric powder and the asafoetida. Mix thoroughly.
2. Add sufficient water to the flour to form a batter which is neither too thick nor too thin. The batter should be of pouring consistency.
3. Heat 1 tbspn of the oil and pour into the batter. Add the onion pieces and keep aside for 20 minutes.
4. Heat the oil in a kadhai. When the oil is hot add the onion slices and fry over a medium flame till the onions are light brown in color.
5. Remove from the flame and serve hot.
Note : The resting time of the batter is not included in the cook time.
