Goan Chana Masala
Preparation time: 20 mins Ingredients: Black channa: 1 kg Onions: 4 Raw bananas: 2 Garlic: 10 flakes Ginger: 1 piece Goan sambhar masala: 1 tb Coconut: 1 Marble-sized ball of tamarind in 1 cup water Pinch of sugar The Steps: Pre - Preparation : 1) Slice the onions and boil and chop the bananas. 2) Crush the garlic and ginger. 3) Grate the coconut. Preparation : 1) Boil the channa in salt water and keep aside. 2) Boil 2 raw bananas and keep aside. 3) In a frying pan, saute the onion along with ginger and garlic. 4) Mix the sambhar masala in the grated coconut and add this to the pan 5) Add the boiled channa and banana pieces, sugar and tamarind water. 6) Add salt if required. Calories: 4798 Suggested Accompaniments: Rice, bread, rotis Left - Over Ideas : 1) Make layers with cooked rice. 2) Pour seasonings on top and serve with raita.
