Dal Makhni 2
Cooking Time : 25-35 Minutes
Serves 4
Ingredients:
1 cup Sabat Urad (Black Beans)
2 tab spoon Chana Dal (Yellow Split Peas)
4 tab spoon Rajmah (red Kidney Beans)
2 Tab spoon Oil
5 cups Water
1 piece Ginger, cut along length
4 Garlic Pods, finely chopped
4 tsp Tomato Puree or Paste
3 tsp Coriander Powder
1/2 tsp Garam Masala
1/4 cup Thickened Cream
Salt to taste
1/4 cup Thickened Cream for garnishing
Method:
1-Soak the 3 beans overnight and drain. Place in a pressure cooker, half of ginger and cover with 5 cups of water. Close lid and wait till pressure is built and first whistle is heard.
2-Slow the heat and let it boil for another 25-30 minutes.
3-Keep aside and let the pressure cooker cool.
4-In a separate pan, heat the oil. Add the other half ginger, garlic, coriander powder, and tomato puree. Fry for 2-3 minutes.
5-Add to the cooked beans and add garam masala. Mix half the thickened cream in the cooked beans.
6-Garnish with the remaining thickened cream. Serve hot.
